Atrial Fibrillation (AFib or AF) is one of most common heart rhythm disorders and increases the risk for heart disease and stroke, both leading causes of death.

The Photo AFib Detector was designed for personal AFib detection and Heart Rate monitoring.

It uses smartphone's inbuilt back camera to capture your fingertip video for PPG signal extraction and then estimate two parameters of RMSSD (Root Mean Square of Successive Difference) and ShE (Shannon Entropy) for AFib detection. It also provide heart-rate monitoring function with percentage of your maximum heart rate if you have input your age in the setting.

The ads make it useless If you can read an ekg this would be fine except the ads will pop up almost every time you try to use it. They don't open when you launch the app, instead they pop up and halt the recording as soon as you start it so that you miss what you were trying to record. This makes the app completely useless

1/2 accurate Never showed afib which I have been in for a constant 3 months. Heart rate pretty accurate as I compared it to a medical heart rate monitor. Don't rely for afib detection. Always says "no abnormality detected"

Ivor Williams at Feb. 29, 2016

Useless!! My app did not come with the start button, so I can't even use it!!

Billie Martin at Dec. 5, 2015

Please Can someone tell me...if your hand isn't steady and it says it picked up an abnormality was it just from moving my hand???

stephyn lenny at Feb. 15, 2016

Not accurate I've been in AF over one month and it keeps telling me I'm in normal rhythm. Also sound beats are fake.

Debi Kershaw at Oct. 25, 2015

Amazing App, really helpful. Love it.

R Varoom at Aug. 14, 2015

Thank you Thank you so much for making this app, you have no idea how happy I am. However im using normal version, is the pro more accurate? Please answer I apreciate it, I'm still using this app. Thank you soon much

Never measured tried multiple times

Fred Hoot at May 1, 2016

Good app. Use the 2-minute test. It works fine on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I just had my mitral valve repaired and they are now trying to control the AFib. I don't mind the advertisement, after all it's free.

Ven Burbank at April 19, 2016

Not quite junk. While experiencing heavy palpitations and irregular heartbeat (which were clearly shown on the graph as it was recording) the app reported "no abnormalities". At least it used the S5 camera to actually measure with unlike so many other so called 'ECG apps'.

Brad Specland at April 17, 2016

Dangerous This app doesn't detect afib accurately. Even when the measurements show afib according to the apps parameters it says no abnormalities. Avoid,!!

Eric Link at April 19, 2016

Cute but don't trust Good idea but results are not accurate.

Lindy Hughes at March 31, 2016

Pretty good I just can't see the total results in the history. The picture of the heart rate covers up the results.

Dusti Jones at April 4, 2016

Doesn't work I have been doing the test randomly yest and today. Out of the handful of times I have done it, I was curently in afib. I felt it, and watched it register on the visual monitor. It said no abnormal detected, and it never records so I can review.

martin oz at July 12, 2016

Works well My dad has an af I think he will like this. Tried it out on myself furst.

Andy Turner at June 13, 2016

Sort of ok. Reads ok but can hardly see the start button and display goes off ( needs to allow screen on ) also no history recorded !

Beverly Dennis at June 24, 2016

Camera Light Hot I am going to uninstall it as the camera light gets very hot on your finger while measuring, especially in the standard mode which is the most accurate mode.

Ahmad Mahmoud at July 8, 2016

Not helpful Not useful with me my patient with AF ongoing and app failed to detect it multiple times.

Old Souled Hippie at May 6, 2016

Great Wish you could record and send the ECG graph though. I kept one hand on the phone and took my pulse with the other. 100% accurate on the HR.

Barbara Watkins at May 16, 2016

Doesn't record the results screen just goes black
